I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to turn my dreams into reality, despite facing some of life’s greatest challenges. Madame Simpson was born out of adversity and has continued to grow through it, thanks to God's remarkable grace.
My passion for French began at the tender age of 11 in the classrooms of Holy Faith Convent, Couva, the moment I first heard the teacher greet us with "bonjour." There was an undeniable je ne sais quoi that drew me to the language, and it quickly became my favorite subject throughout my entire secondary school years. At that age, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew that whatever path I chose, French would play an integral role. I am grateful to the guidance and support of my teachers: Mme Amow-Ali, Mme Canterbery, Mme Dougdeen, Mme Brathwaite and my extra lessons teacher.
After completing my CXC exams, my desire to deepen my knowledge of French only grew stronger. Since my previous school did not offer French at the A-level, I transferred to St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Joseph, where I was inspired by the teachings of Madame Dubay. During the first year of my A-level studies (Lower 6), I had the incredible opportunity to visit Martinique. It was my first authentic experience in a French-speaking environment, and it was also the first time I dreamt in French. The meals in Martinique also piqued my interest in healthy eating, as they always served salad before each meal, ate only one type of carb at a time, and enjoyed yogurt for dessert. It was no surprise, then, that I chose to continue my higher education in France, where I spent three years at the Université de Caen, Normandie.
France was everything I had dreamed of and more. While living there, I excelled academically and became fluent in French. I also completed an internship in Barcelona and had the opportunity to travel to England and Italy. Upon returning to Trinidad, my first job was as the cultural events coordinator at the Alliance Française, which allowed me to further immerse myself in French culture while living in my homeland.
In 2025, I took my passion to another level and decided to move beyond traditional lessons. Madame Simpson Language Academy aims to bring languages alive in a fun and relaxed way through immersion camps and conversational clubs.
